Couples Therapy

Relationships take work. Added stress can affect the healthiest of relationships. The way we respond impacts how our relationships can weather the storms (big or small) that roll into our lives.

We carry pain. We don't always have the self-awareness or know how little wounds can create a response that isn't always about the other person standing right in front of us. It can be hard to be vulnerable and real when we are afraid of the other person's response.

When we don't tend to our relationship effectively it can slowly weaken. We might give up on communication. We might find ways to cope that only creates more disconnection and resentment. And with the added stress of parenting complex children, our own wellness might come last. We do not show up as our best self anymore.

Working on your relationship in a safe place is a way to get back to yourself and back to your relationship. As a licensed marriage and family therapist, I am extensively trained in a number of foundational models that influence the work I do and the approach that I take, such as: Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Contextual Family Therapy, Bowenian Family Systems, Structural Family Therapy, Imago Relationship Therapy, The Gottman Method, and Relational Life Therapy.
